Linky love as the saying goes

In lieu of a real post, I would like to point both my readers to a great series.

The blog Women of Caliber has a great series going on Kids and Guns.

Part 1 -want to ensure your kid never commits a crime? Give him a gun

Part II -addresses myths of gun safety – what you must know in order to truly protect your children

Part III - addresses when it is safe to educate your child on firearms

Bob, I've heard that nonsense before about teaching gun safety to kids. You must be aware that there are other theories, backed up by laboratory tests, that prove it doesn't work. They say that kids are kids and their curiosity and natural tendency towards rebellion and disobedience will get the best of them in many cases. These ideas, if true, would mean that only the most irresponsible of adults would attempt such a direction to keep their kids safe. I say that's what you and your friends are guilty of, perhaps in good faith, I don't suspect anybody wants their kids to get hurt, but through self-serving biased interpretation of facts. You couldn't very well agree with this and still have guns in the house with kids, could you? It often seems like you and your friends have first decided you'll have guns, then you twist and spin and interpret everything else to align itself to that. It is your Constitutional right after all.

MikeB,

Prove it, show the studies and I'll tear them apart.

It is like that 20/20 propaganda piece that aired recently.

Putting firearms in toy boxes isn't what responsible gun owners do and I don't know of any case of any kids anywhere finding a firearm in a toy box.

My kids have had firearm safety training long before I had firearms in the house.

What is the difference between your house and mine? Not much, you have nearly as many dangerous items in your house. Poisons, knives, etc.

Are you being irresponsible for having poisons in your house? Are you going to try to twist and spin the Constitution to justify you having toxic, caustic and poisonous item in reach of your kids?

What is the difference between those items and firearms, beside your PSH? Not much.
