About to head out

It won't be long now before I'm on the way to see my father in law.

I realize I haven't shared much about my family (by design) but here is something. I have two father in laws.

Wife's folks divorced long time ago and her Dad moved back to Tennessee. So, from here on out, he will be the Tn Father in law.

Not to be confused with the man her mom married, hereby designated Tx Father in Law.

I don't talk much about my in laws, mainly because I don't want to make everyone jealous. I'm one of those lucky or blessed people that have great in laws. I like my in laws, we get along great....all of them.

So, stay safe while I'm gone and hit the range folks. Get in some practice, I know I'll be doing that when I get back.

I was pretty luck with In-Laws, too. F-I-L (rest his soul) and I got along fine. So do M-I-L.

My mother-in-law lives with us and she is a god-send. There's no better baby sitter for young kids than their own grandparent.

Hope your recovery goes well. Perhaps see you out and about at a DFW area show soon. Enjoy the vacation.

For Mikeb:
My best baby sitter was my Great Uncle Virgil because he'd take me fishing and let me shoot squirrels and rabbits with his Springfield Model 15 rifle starting at about age 5 or 6. Shame I was only about 8 or 9 when he died but he taught me a lot. Grandparents were cool too.

Folks packed me off for every summer school break to go work on the farms and learn from my elders in the far away rural area of a now big Blue State that they'd emigrated from beause they saw where things were going. My family lived in the Red part, as you'd imagine. Was good times.

Happy to say, as he couldn't make it down here to go coyote zapping, my dad's spending his Memorial Day weekend and the following week working at a Twentieth Air Force base in North Central USA. Might be a retired Col. but he still does contract work. XX boys took early Christmas pressies to the Japanese in Hiroshima and Nagasaki back in '45 and they have even better now.
